President Museveni decorated for his struggles in Africa

President Yoweri Museveni ,who is on state visit in Russia has received the highest public award order of valour, honour and glory as one of the eminent military-political leaders of Africa in recognition for his long and fruitful struggle for real freedom.

Museveni was also honoured for what was described as his supreme efforts to development and strengthening of relations between the friendly people of the Republic of Uganda and the Russian Federation.

President Museveni who was accompanied by his wife Hon. Janet Museveni, the Minister for Karamoja Affairs was decorated by the Vice President of the International League of Military and Law enforcement veterans Vyacheslav F. Shiryaev during a ceremony at the Chamber of Commerce of Russia headquarters, in the Russian Capital, Moscow.

Since his University days, Museveni was involved in the formation of the University Students African Revolutionary front. He was later involved in a war that deposed dictator Amin and the subsequent rebellion that led to the demise of Milton Obote. He is hailed for bring relative stability and economic growth to Uganda after decades of government mismanagement. His tenure has also witnessed one of the most effective national responses to HIV/AIDS in Africa.
