Kenya invites leaders

The Kenyan government has said that it is to invite several leaders of other countries, including USA and Britain at the swearing in of its 4th president to be voted in next Monday.

The next president of Kenya is scheduled to be sworn into office on March 26, 2013 three weeks after elections.

Kenya’s head of f Public Service Francis Kimemia today said that among those to be invited are Barack Obama of USA, the British Prime Minister David Cameron, European Union Head of States and many African presidents.

Kimemia said, ‘ We are inviting many leaders to witness the historic occasion.’

He however called on Kenyans to avoid causing chaos during and after the elections saying that the government has done all it can to ensure that the elections are free and fair. He added on that efforts have been made to secure the whole country.

Police chief, David Kimaiyo said 290 CID officers will be deployed to the 47 Counties to monitor the elections and also gather evidence
leading to the successful prosecution of electoral violence cases.

So far two people have been reportedly arrested by police after being found stocking hundreds of machetes. The machetes are suspected to be for hatching people during or after elections.
