Australian official hails Ugandan students who studied in Australia

Australia has appreciated Australia Alumni association of Uganda for promoting good relationship between Uganda and Australia.
While attending the annual general meeting of the association organized at Protea hotel in Kampala,the senior programme manager of Australian High Commission based in Nairobi, Asif Khan said ,”The association has strengthened Uganda and Australia ties and that is great.”
Khan emphasized the need for members to do development programmes. He handed to the association 10,000 US dollars as donation from commission to be used for development issues.At the same function, members of Australia Alumni Association of Uganda  elected  officials to manage their  group which has become very popular in the country because of its being well organized and managed.

Among those elected are Kagonyera as the chairman of Australia Alumni Association of Uganda, deputized by Edward Kayeisiga and Hellen Kawesa the Parliament’s public relation manager as a treasurer.

Mary Kasirye was elected as secretary while Justine Bukenya, Dr. Liz Kakunda and Solome Namugenyi were elected as executive members.

The patron pf the association, Patrick  Bitature  thanked the members for being well organized. He however encouraged them to start savings credit scheme as this will create business development opportunities.

Bitature said “Since you are well organized you can do a lot to improve on the lives of Ugandans. This is an opportunity for you to put together your resources as a group and do a significant investment.”

He gave an  example of Indian association of Uganda which has marshaled resources from its members and connected others  to business links and as a result they have grown big.

 Hundreds of Ugandans graduate each year from universities and institutions of high learning in Australia. Most of those who studied in Australia talk well about their stay  there and encourage other Ugandans to go and study from there.
