“My husband’s health is not as bad as perceived”– Aisha Buhari, Nigeria first lady

Nigerians have began to wonder what is wrong with their president for the third time. It was reported that president Buhari had requested for a sick leave which is yet to be confirmed. In respect to this, Nigerians have kept on speculating and painting the President’ s health as a very serious one which could not be controlled.

One of the government officials recently said:
“As we join the Nigerian people of goodwill to pray for a speedy recovery of President Buhari, we are compelled to advise him to heed the advice of his personal physicians by taking a rest to attend to his health without any further delay.”

Observations revealed that since his return, the president has only made a few public appearances, fuelling speculation about his health.

In response to Nigerians speculations, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha has finally broke the silence to address the people concerning her husband’s health. She confirmed that the President’s health is not as bad as it is being reported.

She addressed the speculations in a statement on Facebook and Twitter. She started by thanking Nigerians for praying for her husband. She further said that the President has not recorded any set back in performing or carrying out his responsibilities.

She also confirmed that the President met with the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, on Tuesday. The meeting is to continue to effect possible solutions to improve the economy standard.

She said, “I thank all Nigerians for their concern, love and prayers over my husband’s health status.”

She further tweeted:
“I wish to inform everyone that his health is not as bad as it’s being perceived. Meanwhile, he continues to carry out his responsibilities during this period.”

In another tweet, she wrote:
“As it may come to your notice, he is meeting with Minister of Justice and GMD of NNPC this evening. Long Live Nigerians, Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Aisha who is a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University with Bachelor degree in public administration only address the public when significant issues arise. She also has a post-graduate diploma of the Academy Esthetique Beauty Institute of France in cosmetology and beauty. Moreover, she is an alumnus of the famous Carlton Institute of London.

Despite the president’s exaggerated illness, he tried and is still trying to put the country in shape. The economy might be a little tough at the moment but things will definately get better. Aisha pleaded for a disregard or exaggeration of her husband’s health status. She urged Nigeria to stop the speculations as it is indirectly and emotionally affecting the discharge of duties.
