“Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you, until you visit the graveyards.” (Quran 102: 1-2)

We have been missing the whole point when we compete with worldly gains and so little of us are actually channelling their thoughts to the right direction. From competing with other kids with how many toys they get when we were younger to when we get older and compare what we have to what others have which becomes an essential way of life for so many, we humans destroy ourselves by being diverted from the right path.

What Ramadan teaches us?

Allah (swt) gave us Ramadan as a full package to improve our lives in so many ways. Despite from its complete health benefits, it also teaches us how to handle living in a world where almost everyone is not satisfied with what they have and rather looking at what others are blessed with.

Abstaining from food

Only those who are paying attention to what is haram and what is halal is those who also pay attention to God’s order to fast from the permissible foods and drinks. This is God’s way of disciplining us to feel the same with everyone in town, so that we don’t put ourselves in categories and classes. But, we still break the rules with our so extravagant suhoors and our feasts for our iftar.  If you been blessed with the ability to have whichever food you want, Allah (swt) did not give you to feel guilty whenever you have bite of it, but to rather glorify Allah for it and most importantly to share it with you fellow humans.

I have looked at this ayah from only one perspective today, we will try to write the other perspectives as well, that brings us to the end of today’s article and I hope we will benefit from it.

May we be not among those who get diverted from the right path until it is too late, Ameen.

Wa salaamu Aliakum wa Rahmatullah
