Omar Alghabra makes public his plan to visit Cote D’ Ivoire

In preparation for the 44th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), APO report on Omar Alghabra’s plan to visit Abidjan.

The report stated that “Omar Alghabra, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs), announced today that he will visit Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from July 10 to 11, 2017, to attend the 44th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to the report, “The council’s central theme this year is Youth, Peace and Development in a World of Solidarity.” It is added that “During his visit, Parliamentary Secretary Alghabra will have the opportunity to meet with OIC member states and enhance Canada’s engagement with the organization.”

In the press release as published on behalf of Department of Foreign Affairs Canada, “The OIC council meetings will offer Canada a distinct opportunity to raise and advance …core values, including human rights, freedom, democratic governance and the rule of law.”

Omar Alghabra was quoted saying “Canada has many partners and friends in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

“We value these relationships and look forward to discussing ways to strengthen our collaboration and partnership on shared priorities, opportunities and challenges. We will listen with interest for views on ways we can work together.”

It should be noted however that “The OIC comprises 56 member states, five observer states, five observer international organizations and other invited guests.” So, much “…is anticipated that a number of foreign ministers and other high-level representatives will attend the Council of Foreign Ministers.”
