EU and Egypt are set for the July 25th association council meeting

On Tuesday, 25th of July, the Association Council meeting between the European Union and Egypt will take place in Brussels. The meeting according gathered information, will be co-chaired by the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Hassan Shoukry.

According to the European Council website, the Association Council is expected to endorse the EU-Egypt partnership priorities for 2017-2020. And, the identified priorities shall cover economic reforms, good governance, rule of law and human rights, migration and security/counterterrorism. In addition, it will extend to cover dialogue and cooperation on regional issues.

Meanwhile, it is equally reported that a seminar titled “the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) in Egypt” will be held to discuss the NUA that was adopted in the conference of HABITAT III – Quito, Ecuador with the engagement of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The conference will exhaustively discuss about Urban Challenges, Informal Settlements, and Development of the New Urban Communities.

The Conference, according to reports, is widely considered to be among the most inclusive and innovative United Nations conferences. The NUA lays out standards and principles for the planning, construction, development, management, and improvement of urban areas.

Hence, UN Information Center in Cairo announces to invite the general public to attend the seminar on Wednesday, 26th of July, at Grand Nile Tower Hotel, Garden City, Corniche El Nile at “Akhnaton” meeting room from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm.
