Experts identify youths as key factor in the narrative of growth of any economy
A lot is said to be expected from youths all around the world in driving the globe forward. This was the central view of a panel of six, during the final recording of Inside-Out-with-Agatha program on RAVE TV in Nigeria.
The panel (comprising of Emmanuel Ewele Uduaghan, Former Governor of Delta State; Muda Yusuf, DG, LCCI; Shedrach Madlion, Group Managing Director, Safari 54, Tosin Akande, Legal Practitioner; Uche Nwuka, Head of Creatives BOI and Obi Buogo, CEO Wooddesigns) noted that a lot really needs to be done in building youths into resourceful personalities.
Speaking at the event, as the Keynote Speaker, Madam Folorunsho Alakija noted that youths must not sit and hang wasting. Adding that, as mentees, go out to seek mentors who can help them grow. She stressed that youths must not remain idle while dreaming of greener pasture. Using her life as a reflection, she stated that it took 26 years of hard-work, risk management, determination, headache, vision and discipline to earn whatever she has gathered.
According to Obi Buogo, parents and guardians need to be encouraging because there is more to every little child beyond what is perceived. Adding that every young child can become successful if the right amount of motivation and advise gets across to them at the time needed.
In contribution to the talk, former Governor of Delta State, Eweta Udoaghan charged youth to harness the internet as tool for Human Capital Development, adding that the time is exactly now to desist from using the internet as a mere platform to insult leaders or simply bullying another.
The special guest of honor, Folorunsho Alakija in her closing remarks urged youths to prepare their minds and get ready to work their fingers to bone as this is one sure road to success and listless opportunities.
“It could be you whose input is what the world is waiting on. The opportunities are listless. Go out there and be that girl, boy, man or woman that God has created you to be.”
