President Danny Faure sends condolence message to Spain, condemns the devastating terror attack
SEYCHELLES- The first citizen of Seychelles, President Danny Faure of has, yesterday –18th of August, in a press release through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles ‘sent a message of condolence to His Majesty Felipe VI, King of the Kingdom of Spain on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles. This message is to sympathize with the people following ‘the deadly terrorist attack in the city of Barcelona claiming lives and injuring several others.
According to available reports, the attack left 13 persons died with a number of others injured and currently receiving treatments. President Danny Faure, in his condolence message informs of his prayers for Spain and her people. He noted that the “indomitable spirit and the joy of life” will vanquish their gloomy moment.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Spain and the bereaved families at this time. The inclusive nature of the Spanish people, their indomitable spirit and the joy of life particularly celebrated by the Catalans will ensure that this dark period will be vanquished.”
Meanwhile, in South Africa, Deputy Education Minister Mduduzi Manana has reportedly resigned from office. According to the report, the Minister has resigned ‘over assault claim’ charged against him. His resignation, thus, according to the report came as Manana’s reaction to the accusation that he ‘assaulted a woman in a nightclub earlier this month.’
According to the BBC, the Deputy Education Minister ‘appeared in court last week to face the assault charge where he was ‘accused of hitting the woman during an argument at the venue.’ Following the charge, Mduduzi Manana ‘apologised over his guilt, describing the circumstance as a “shameful incident”. He however claimed to be provoked which he couldn’t exercise “restraint”.
BBC reports that, President Jacob Zuma’s office, on Saturday, ‘in a brief statement, accepted Mr Manana’s resignation,’ further thanking him for ‘his contribution to the work of government’. In the resolution of the court, Manana ‘was released on bail of $375 (£290) pending further investigation.’
