Pakistan Telecommunication Authority introduces a new system to block stolen mobiles

ISLAMABAD – To maintain the standard and quality of telecommunication market across the country, after the successful free services of 4G and 5G and registration of Sim Cards, the national organization launched a new system in cell-phones to block all the mobile phone who were stolen and non-standard identifiers from use, according to “Mobile Devices Identification” and “Registration and Blocking Regulations, 2017”on September 15th, 2017.

It had been notified that stolen mobiles would not be used by any customer in future in order to maintain the quality of cell-phones.

PTA established that data on a lot of complaints by customers, they clarified that the stolen mobiles were neither imported nor sold in our markets.

According to some of officials of PTA, “our purpose to register and blocking the phone was to overcome the street crime,” he added, “For that sake we issued licensees actively identify such phones on their networks and maintain and update industry-wide database with information about such phones for the benefit of the mobile services sector worldwide.”

However effective policy had been made by authority to overcome street crimes. The policy would be determined by government.
It is reported that important data had been installed in software of mobiles. It has subsystems with IMEI by stakeholder registration.

Authority said, “The DIRBS will be installed, having the necessary hardware and software to implement the system for analysis.

“It will comprise a core analysis system combined with subsystems to support verification of IMEIs by stakeholders, registration of IMEI paired exceptions, and import of various inputs including operator device data dumps, GSMA device database, importer device lists, and stolen device lists.”
