President of Uganda visits Nigeria to deliberate on vital issues
Nigerian President, Buhari has in the recent times welcomed many countries around the world to enhance the country’s international links. One of the countries is Uganda. Recently, the president of Uganda, Museveni visited Nigeria for collaboration in some economic sectors for development to prevail.
Ugandan president visited president Buhari in Abuja to discuss and delibrate on vital issues. Speaking after a lengthy meeting behind closed doors, President Museveni expressed his delight to Statehouse Correspondents about the warm reception he and his entourage had received. He confirmed that Nigeria is a friendly country and deserves to move forward. He said the warm reception made him feel welcomed and as well aided his open minded deliberations.
One of the matters deliberated upon was the need to strengthen the institutional links between Nigeria and Uganda as well as deepen bilateral ties which would ensure physical structures beneficial to the two countries. He further said that the institutional links will help both countries’ educational sectors to gain more strength in standardization. Also, strengthening the business transactions of the two countries will no doubt help both countries socially.
He further mentioned the need to also strengthen the security sectors of the countries. It was stated that the recent bombing is partly as a result of a loose security service. The meeting gave birth to some strategies that could empower the security sector in further securing the country from terrorist attacks.
One of the officials who attended the meeting stated that both countries are working on collaborating to create a better atmosphere for the citizens. He also confirmed that the meeting was a success as many tips were discovered to improve both countries’ standard of living.
In addition, both presidents explained how important the welfare of their citizens is important to them. They also confirmed that all the deliberations with successful result will be given immediate follow up. However, Uganda has registered consistent economic progress in the last two decades averaging 6% per year. As a result, the country increased our revenue collection from sh5b in 1986 to sh9.7 trillion in 2014/15, which has helped to finance numerous Government projects. The government hasn’t stopped at that, it is still on the run to standardize the country.
Nigerian president appreciated Uganda’s visit. He urged that such meeting of different countries on vital matters deliberations should often be organised. “If two or more good heads deliberate on matters, greater results will be achieved”, the president said.
