Iran’s flower industry flourishes at global level
Verameen: Iran introduced flower industry internationally which has the worth of 1.4 billion dollars per year, according to several official sources.
According to Mehdi Kebriali (who runs greenhouses) on October Sunday 29th, 2017, to the Al-Jazeera news channel, “For years, barriers to international trade have held Iranian businesses from blossoming.”
“When international sanctions were lifted after the 2015 nuclear deal, things got better,” he added, “One of the biggest challenges we face in Iran lacking today is modern technology.
“Most of agricultural engineering expertise exists in Europe and we haven’t been able to transfer that knowledge to Iran.”
It must be acknowledged that previously Iran had been controversial for oil, gas and nuclear weapons but then flowers did nothing to controversy expect beauty that consoles human mind.
The fact is that it would be difficult to sell compared to oil and gas but that income could compensate someday.
Kebrialie said, “If I could meet the president, I would tell him to give agriculture and greenhouse production as much attention as the country gives to the oil industry.
“As much as we care about the seats in (International oil producers’ body) OPEC, I think we should pay even more attention to seats in the food and agriculture organization, and pave the way for foreign investors in Iran.”
The head of flowers union sellers Akhbor Shahrokhi said, “The main problem now is the high cost of exporting.”
However, selling flowers is a good business to console esthetic sense especially for happy and sad times; Iran has shown a positive step towards diplomatic ties with the neighboring countries in bilateral trade of flowers.
