Bronx, New York-2008 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, New York 10462 (AKA Islamic Cultural Center of North America) is the first and still the only building in our state where a Mosque, Synagogue (Shul in the Mosque) and a Church peacefully co-exist as one family under God. It is also home to Islamic Leadership School, Community Peace Patrol Officers and Peace December International. These entities respectively have some of the most effective ways of countering radicalization of young Muslims and neighborhood gang membership.
Because of these public safety services, the center has attracted frequent visits by diplomats, the media, law enforcement and political leaders seeking solutions to Muslim extremism and gang violence in addition to being a public community center that opens to various community groups, activities and events since the inception.
Unfortunately this building that has given us a lead in countering the up-surge in religious violent extremism and gang recruitment has now been sadly scheduled for a public auction early in December by US Bankruptcy Court, and we believe selling the building to investors who are only interested for its economic benefit would be a grave mistake and a lost opportunity in the fight against radicalization. www.muslimcommunityreport.com
This is why we are cordially inviting you to join stakeholders, interfaith leaders, political and community leaders, and students who are coming together to appeal for financial, legal and political intervention in order to continue the aforementioned services in the building. The building is easily capable of paying back any redemption loan within a reasonable time after resuming its services. FURTHERMORE, THIS HISTORIC SYMBOL OF ANTI RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM CENTER MUST NOT BE AUCTIONED BECAUSE OF PROPERTY TAX THAT IT SHOULDN’T BE PAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
