Robert Mugabe to receive generous retirement package from Government
After the resignation of the 93 year old Zimbabwean former President in November, Robert Gabriel Mugabe is entitled to receiving a retirement package from the current Government, and he is yet to get hold of it – President Emmerson Mnangagwa unveiled on Wednesday.
The package, according to the reports, is reported to going to help and make the former President live a life as if he was still the President.
Robert Mugabe is to be awarded with an eight well and fully furnished house, anywhere he chooses in Harare, a car fleet, at least 25 staffers including six personal security guards. All the resources including, salary wages for his workers, fuel for the cars and furniture, water and electricity bills, are all to be settled by the Government, sources indicate.
The former President is expected to get two personal secretaries, a furnished office with computers, a cell phone and a landline.
Mugabe and his wife will be entitled to diplomatic passports. The couple can go on four first-class air or train trips within Zimbabwe and four trips abroad on a private plane.
Health insurance for the former leader, his spouse and dependants is also included in the raft of benefits.
According to the sources, Grace Mugabe, the former First Lady, will retain the properties even after her husband has died. The government pledges to take care of the former First Lady as well.
Neither did the reports nor the current President spell out any Monetary Funds that the 93 year old former President is expected to get as pension. However, according the country’s constitution, it is stated that the former President of the state is entitled to a pension worth the salary of the sitting President.
Robert Mugabe the former President of Zimbabwe was forced to end his 37 year old rule that had made him the longest and oldest serving ruler in the World, in a coup that was led by the military in November.
He resigned after the country’s Parliament had begun to run the impeachment procedures, and had expelled him from the ruling ZANU-PF party.
Robert Mugabe was succeeded by Emmerson Mnangagwa, his long time ally, that he however had cut ties with earlier on before the coup, when he had decided to side with his 52 year old wife, Grace Mugabe.
