East Elmhurst, NY — State Senator Jose Peralta issued the following statement regarding the decision by a federal judge in California to block Trump’s decision to end DACA.
“In the midst of continuous attacks on immigrants coming from the Trump Administration, DREAMers received some good news when a federal judge blocked efforts by the White House to terminate DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Although the war is far from over, this partial victory shows that Trump’s policies are, simply put, un-American and anti-immigrant. I hope this ruling is a first step to finally passing a clean DREAM Act, making permanent the protections that shield more than 800,000 of our young people, 42,000 of them New Yorkers, from deportation. This time we won, but the fight to push back Trump policies continues.”
