Black History Month Healthy Lifestyle Marathon Walk
Dear New Yorkers,
We would like to wish you a happy and healthy year. And in light of the increased preventable ailments that are killing us and destroying the quality of our lives, we would like to invite you to join our planned walk next month.
As Black History Month, February is a great month to be used to educate, motivate and counter the self-destructive habits, particularly unhealthy habits in less affluent and African American communities. It’s all about cultural attitude! In Africa for example, weight gain for men is regarded as signs of privilege and beauty for women in some places. Obviously as the continent’s economic condition continues to improve as it has been for the last decade, this unhealthy attitude can easily become epidemic and unsustainable healthcare costs in the continent. On other hand, over consumption of unhealthy foods and sedentary lifestyles are also epidemic among the African descendants in the developed world.
So since all humans are one hundred percent identical gene-wise, existing racial and ethnic health disparities aren’t therefore inevitable. They are the result of unhealthy lifestyles, poverty, and negligible government policies that failed to address them.
It is in this spirit that led us to launch Lifestyle Lifespan, a healthy lifestyle revolution targeting primarily the African descent people globally, and to inaugurate “Black History Month Healthy Lifestyle Marathon Walk” in the Bronx and Harlem on the first Sunday of the Black History Month annually.
We strongly invite political, religious, community, schools leaders and all other stakeholders to join us in promoting this long overdue life-saving revolution to be successful. Thank you!
