A retired French medical doctor has been tried for several cases of child sexual assault and rape in a nationally unprecedented instance of pedophilia.

The trial which started today is considered as France’s worst ever incident of pedophilia with alleged abuse as many as 349 children, with some of his victims as young as four years old.

This act which he started over more than 30 years ago involves, amongst others 2 of his nieces abused between 1989 and 1999 and a four year old hospital patient abused in 1993 as well as a six year old neighbor.

Investigators said, “The doctor, Le Scourarnec took sexual advantage of child patients as soon as they were alone in their hospital room. He acted strategically, using medical reasons as a pretense and passing off sexual violence as a professional gesture.”

“His targets were patents who are too young to remember or understand what was happening,” they added.

Investigators found more than 300,000 images of child pornography, as well as notebooks in which the doctor extensively detailed his sexual abuse from 1989 to 2017.

Entries in the book included both the child’s name and the sexual acts inflicted upon them.

The 69 year old surgeon has however acknowledged sexual molestation but denied rape, claiming that his diaries were in part fantasized and that he set limits for himself, including no penetration.
