The United Arab Emirates has reported 277 new cases of coronavirus and one more death, bringing the total number of infections to 2,076 and 11 deaths in the country.

The country’s health ministry disclosed this in a statement on Monday March 6th, 2020.

During the regular media briefing on the latest developments on coronavirus, the ministry’s official spokesperson, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, stated that new cases were detected after screening and examining people who were in contact with the previously announced cases.

“The new cases, who are from different nationalities, are in stable condition and receiving necessary health care,” the spokesperson said.

She further disclosed that the increase in the number of infections could be attributed to arrant disregard to the preventive measures, social distancing and quarantine procedures.

“We therefore regret to announce the death of a victim of Asian nationality. I express my sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased and assure them of all the support they need during this period from the government,” concluded.

She also announced that 23 more patients have completely recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 167 so far.
