Madagascar president approves herbal treatment for Covid-19

The Madagascan president, Andry Rajoelina, has endorsed and officially launched a local herbal remedy believed to cure coronavirus.

At the Malagasy Institute of Applied Research, Rajoelina confirmed the efficacy of the herbal drink to ministers, diplomats and journalists, stressing that it has been used to cure two Covid-19 patients.

“Tests have been carried out, two people have now been cured by this treatment,” he said.

“This herbal tea gives results in seven days,” he added.

While addressing his audience at the institute, Rajoelina got pragmatic and had a dose of the drink proving it is harmless and a magic bullet for Covid-19.

“I will be the first to drink this today, in front of you, to show you that this product cures and does not kill,” he said while was about taking the dose.

The president showed his readiness to make the herbal drink available for consumption when he said that he would make sure the drink is made available to school children as it was his duty to ensure their safety and protection. He also said that the Covid-Organics would be given free to the poor in the country.

Proving the effectiveness of the herbal concoction, IMRA’s director-general, Dr. Charles Andrianjara explained, “Covid-Organics will be used as prophylaxis, that is for prevention, but clinical observations have shown a trend towards its effectiveness in curative treatment.”

The Malagasy Institute of Applied Research (IMRA) further explained that the drink was derived from a plant called Artemisia which is believed to be effective for malaria treatment. It is believed that dried leaves from the plant are believed to have medicinal values.

However there has not been any tangible evidence to show that the herbal drink is effectiveness treatment for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Madagascar has so far recorded 121 Covid-19 cases with no death records.
