Indian government appeals to citizens to comply with lockdown
Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has appealed to citizens to strictly comply with a nationwide lockdown and maintain social distancing directive.
While disclosing this in a radio address on Sunday April 26, 2020, Modi stated that the country was in the midst of a serious health challenge.
He therefore urged the citizens to support the fight against coronavirus, stressing that they should not live under the illusion that the pandemic has been brought fully under control.
“I will urge you that we should not be trapped into over-confidence and nurse the belief that in our city, in our village, in our streets, in our office, coronavirus has not reached and that is why it will not reach,” Modi said.
As cases of coronavirus spiral up, India has reported 26,496 cases and 824 deaths.
