North Korea condemns UK sanctions on organizations, says it interferes in domestic affairs
North Korea has condemned Britain’s recently imposed sanctions on two North Korean organizations for their involvement in forced labor, torture and murder in North Korean prison camps.
The sanctions imposed on the organizations, Ministry of State Security Bureau 7 and Ministry of People’s Security Correctional Bureau was the first sanctions under Britain’s new regime which centers on global human rights as its core value.
Also caught in the net of the Britain’s new sanctions are 20 Saudis involved in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and 25 Russians connected with the killing of Sergei Magnitsky, an auditor.
While reacting to the sanctions on Saturday 11 July, 2020, a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stated that Britain’s latest move was a flagrant political plot to jump on the bandwagon of the United States’ inimical policy.
The spokesperson further said the UK sanction was interference in North Korea’s domestic affairs as those institutions sanctioned are responsible for North Korea security system.
“We strongly condemn and reject the UK’s daring to impose sanctions on the institutions responsible for our country’s security as violent interference in domestic affairs,” said the spokesperson.
Similarly, North Korea is still horn locked with the United States over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program and the U.S imposed international sanctions on the country.
North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, recently reacted to the U.S sanctions on Pyongyang expressing North korea’s objections to it saying it they are hostile and self-serving policies.
