British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has said that the U.K. has been able to exercise some degree of control over the spread of coronavirus infections and that the country has in recent time witnessed reduced cases of coronavirus-related deaths.
While making the statement on Thursday July 30, 2020, he said, “This country has had a massive success now in reducing the numbers of those tragic deaths, and we’ve got it at the moment under some measure of control”
The Prime Minister, however, stated that despite the level of control, there has been resurgence of the infections in some part of the country. He added that the recent surge in the infection rates is a signal that the war against the virus is not yet over.
He therefore warned Britons to avoid pretense and be at alert by avoiding possible cause of the infections.
“But I have to tell you that we are looking at a resurgence of the virus in some other European countries and you can see what’s been happening in the United States, and so it is absolutely vital as a country that we continue to keep our focus and our discipline, and that we don’t delude ourselves that somehow we are out of the woods or that that is all over because it isn’t all over,” Johnson said.
He further advise people to join hands in the fight against the pandemic as they maintain total hygiene by washing their hands, observe social distancing order and ensure they are regularly tested should they have any symptoms.
