Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate resigns from office

Mustapha Adib, Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate has announced his resignation after failing to form a new government.

Adib on Sunday September 26, 2020, announced this in a televised address after meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace in Beirut.

“I excuse myself from continuing the task of forming the government,” Adib said.

On August 31, Adib, was tasked with forming a new government after his predecessor Hassan Diab resigned in the wake of Beirut’s port explosion.
