Iraqi Foreign Minister holds talks with EU ambassador on Israeli actions in Gaza

The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, engaged in discussions on the latest developments in Palestine with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Iraq, Thomas Seiler, this Sunday.

The talks centered on multiple aspects of the Iraq-EU relationship, emphasizing the potential for strengthening economic ties and fostering collaboration across diverse sectors. A statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry highlighted the shared commitment to expanding this partnership..

During the meeting, both Hussein and Seiler examined recent regional developments, with particular focus on the Israeli actions against the Palestinian population. Hussein reiterated Iraq’s steadfast opposition to Israeli efforts aimed at displacing Gaza residents.

Minister Hussein took the opportunity to call upon the European Union and its member states to take a resolute stance against the blockade on Gaza. He urged them to support the opening of the Rafah crossing for the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, and to clearly oppose any Israeli attempts to relocate Gazans to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

Ambassador Seiler expressed the European Union’s keen interest in advancing cooperation with Iraq. He extended his gratitude to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry for its dedicated efforts to fortify the relationship between the two entities.
