Sudan government has said that it has seized deadly weapons as they were being smuggled into the country.

The firearms have been captured by Anti-Drug Administration in the White Nile state. They were reportedly being transported on a
semi-trailer.

According to the director of the anti-drug unit in the white Nile state, Youssef Ibrahim Abd Al-Faraj 34 AK 47 guns with a lot of ammunition were hidden on the bed of the trailer which was covered with the sand. The truck also carried 30 heads of cattle.

He said,’ The truck was stopped at a checkpoint on Kosti’s bridge. We had got intelligence about the smuggling of the weapons and a
specialized team was able to discover the weapons.’

The automatic machine guns and ammunition were reportedly being smuggled into the capital Khartoum from the war torn state of South Kordofan.

Sudan government has accused the Sudanese rebels of planning to carry out attacks in the capital Khartoum as part of their plans against the regime.

The acting director of police, Brigadier Tarifi Idris said, ‘ They thought they would fool us by placing the guns in the bed of the
trailer. But our police is well trained and equipped to perform it’s duties and foil traitors attempts to target the Nation.’
