Zimbabwe mourns vice president

Zimbabwe’s vice president John Landa Nkomo has died at 79 yrs leaving many Zimbabweans shocked about the death.
‘We have lost a gentleman. ‘said 60 yr old seconadry teacher Albert Zowe. ‘He has been unlike most selfish politicians. He has been a man of the people.’ he added.
According to medical reports, Nkomo died from cancer today morning at St Annes hospital in the country’s capital Harare. He was reportedly admitted to that hospital yesterday in critical condition.
Family spokesperson Mr Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, said, ‘He was taken to hospital yesterday where he succumbed to cancer this morning.’
Nkomo has allegedly been suffering from cancer for sometime and had been treated at various hospitals.
Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe has said that the county has lost a patriot who served his country tirelessly.
Nkomo was a founding member of the African National Congress between 1958 and 1959. In 1961 he joined the Zimbabwe African People’s Union.
When Zimbabwe became independent in 1980 he became Member of Parliament for Matabeleland North. He headed several ministries before he was appointed vice president on December 14th 2009.
The government has not yet announced burial arrangements.
