Illegal drug use and trade and gambling, while they have not generated any sustainable development to those who involved in them, are still sending exorbitant number of Americans to their early graves and prison cells and if not stopped now, some neighborhoods would soon have more dinosaurs than people. And what makes this situation even worst is the fact that in the last thirty years alone this nation has witnessed the greatest wealth creation among its young population, yet those who chose illegal drugs have only experienced early deaths and prisons. Our religion advise us to stay away from drugs, alcohol and all forms of gambling if we want to be successful.
O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan’s handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain? 5:90-91
