NYPD has arrested the killer of Najma Khanum, who was repeatedly stabbed in and was killed on August 31, 2016, police confirmed.
Her sister’s son, Humayun Kabir, who works in New York Police Department said, “ Aunt Najma came to New York winning DV lottery 10 years ago. She was teacher of Shariatpur Government Girls High School in Bangladesh. Her husband, Shamsul Alam,was a teacher at Government College in Shariatpur too.
After the assassination the police get into operation to catch the killer. Yanthan Galvez Marin (22) was arrested as a suspect. He lives in the same area. He said that Najma didn’t want to give her money when asked. He admitted the murder. Galvez Marin has been charged with murder as well as hijacking and possession of weapons, police said. Prior to this event the young man did not have any criminal charges.
