School Wellness Council Grant Application Now Open; Apply by October 27
MUSLIM COMMUNITY REPORT: What do healthy eating programs, after-school physical activities, bullying prevention assemblies, and strong school wellness policies have in common? They are all supported by School Wellness Councils at hundreds of NYC schools, and they can transform your school community into a place where everyone is healthy, active, and ready to learn. School Wellness Councils bring school staff, parents, and students together to organize fitness and nutrition events, set school wellness policies, and make sure that physical and health education instruction are prioritized school-wide.
All NYC K-12 public schools can apply now through 10/27for a 2016-17 School Wellness Council Grant for up to $2,500 to start or continue a council at their school. To learn more, see this overview and register for information sessions Citywide (see below) in October. For questions, contact Beth Reed.
