Dr. Mazhar Rishi: A pillar of Delaware Valley’s Muslim Community Passed Away إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Col. Dr. Mazhar Rishi who was one of the most active members of Delaware Valley’s Muslim Community Passed away yesterday إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ.

Janaza prayer will be today, (Wednesday October 12) after Dhuhr Prayers (1:00 PM) at the Islamic Society of Chester County located at 1001 Potts Town Rd in West Chester, PA 19380.

Col. Dr. Mazhar Rishi was a surgical pathology and clinical pathology specialist and had recently retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service. He was currently a member of the active reserve.

Dr. Rishi understood the importance of having a voice to address the issues related to Islamophobia years ago when he became the President of CAIR Philadelphia. To raise political awareness in the Muslim Community, he joined the national board of Emerge USA and started its local chapter in Pennsylvania and served as its president.

He actively worked with Delaware Council on Global and Muslim Affairs on numerous issues in Delaware. He was one of the key speakers at the Regional Muslim Convention hosted by the Delaware Council on December 5 last year. He also participated in several events and political fundraisers organized by the Delaware Council.

In addition, he was principal of the Sunday School at the Islamic Society of Chester County (ISCC) where he served as its Vice President of ISCC and its board member for 16 years. He was the Chair of Children Building Bridges and served on several interfaith committees.
