Campaign Background.
Since the inception of the ‘Information Superhighway’ in the early nineties, all aspects of our lives have universally been changed, in most cases for the better. Difficult tasks are made easy. Subject researches can be done online from anywhere. Higher learning degrees being issued by online universities. Ecommerce websites facilitate all forms of transactions, big and small, globally. Wars are fought without human soldiers and medicine administered by technology.
Communication, transportation, socialization, interactions and many other aspect of our lives have all been forever transformed by technology. Technology has also sifted power and privilege from older generation to the younger ones, thereby rearranging seating positions in our traditional boardrooms and decision-making meetings. Constant change for how things are done is the new norm now.
The side effect of the Information Superhighway:
What should have been the greatest socioeconomic equalizer has unfortunately created the highest concentration of wealth, control and power, while at the same time worsening the persistent local and global gaps of ‘haves and have nots’ to historic levels. A small percentage of families have owned and controlled national and global resources through multinational monopoly corporations and their global omnipresent subsidiaries.
This phenomenon worsen the conditions of the poor, the less educated and the disenfranchised communities in the ghettos of major cities; those who are surrounded by opulence and luxury all their lives. Unfortunately these disenfranchised individuals who have been trying to participate in the prestigious lifestyles around them through illegal and get rich quick schemes, end up causing more devastations and extreme poverty in their communities. Without having the necessary tools for socioeconomic development, these wannabe rich individuals curve out territories in their neighborhoods to protect their self-sacrificing, short-lived and illegal endeavors by all means necessary, including slaughtering each other and spending the better parts of their productive lives behind bars.
#IDecade Campaign Objective:
Against the drop of this phenomenon, Peace on Campus has launched its #IDecade campaign. Regardless of background, geography and circumstances, we believe attitude and education, moreso than anything else, determine individual’s position in life. Therefore the campaign is designed to bring out people’s natural ability for self-empowerment, the can-do spirit, the positive mental attitude, the indoctrination of the importance of being an inventor/innovator for socioeconomic mobility and the rewards of independent leadership mindset, while at the same time strongly emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility and the acceptance of consequences of one’s choices in life.
The #IDecade campaign is directed to all individuals; men and women, old and young. However, special focus is directed towards those whose lives and livelihoods have been in most part under the management of governments and organizations. Individuals with family backgrounds of government subsidized living are more susceptible to accepting dependency lifestyle as a normal way of living, as opposed to ‘self-made’ attitude.
The campaign is for ten (10) years of deconditioning of individuals’ mindset in order to end the vicious cycle of poverty, especially in the midst of today’s increasingly concentrated wealth in the hands of fewer families in major cities.

Peace December’s #PeaceonCampus is launching a “#IDecade (2017-2027)” at International Community High School in the South Bronx on Friday, January 13, 2017, 10:30-12:00 PM, under the leadership of one of the school teachers, Mr. Alhassan Suso. 12 Reflections on Personal Responsibility.
Responsibility means being accountable for what we think, say, and do. Personal responsibility involves working on our own character and skill development rather than blaming others for situations and circumstances. It means choosing to design a life that honors our values and purpose.
Here are twelve reflections on personal responsibility:
- Personal responsibility begins from the inside and moves outward. We must begin by taking responsibility for our thoughts, choices, and reactions. Then we can be responsible for the circumstances we create in our world.
- We have the divine gift of free will. We make conscious choices as spiritual living in a physical world. Conscious choice is a gift that carries great responsibility.
- Every choice can benefit humanity or harm it. Even avoiding choices is a choice, and each choice will have consequences.
- When you think something or someone else is responsible for your problems and their solutions, that exact thought is the first problem to solve.
- People waste precious years while believing that there will be more time tomorrow than there is today. Today is the perfect day to accept and develop our gifts and talents.
- A great philosophy of responsibility: When things are working, I am responsible… and when they need fixing, I am responsible.
- Only our choices and actions today will bring the rainbow’s end with any gold it might contain.
- The richest blessings follow those who follow the rules and honor the universal laws for abundant living: laws for wellness, success, relationships, prosperity, spirituality, and service to others.
- When you follow the rules, life works. If you think you ever really get by with breaking the rules, you are only fooling yourself.
- True personal independence is the freedom from reaction–the ability to choose actions and make choices that will influence positively the future of our lives and our world.
- The Creator knows what it is we need to be doing and will provide us with plenty of chances to show up. However, we will not get an unlimited number of chances, and we cannot ever assume that we will have tomorrow.
- Living serenely does not mean that we deny problems or avoid the responsibility for solving them. Just the opposite–we find the clarity and presence of mind to deal with the issues of daily living in positive constructive ways.
You cannot control all the circumstances in life; however, you can learn from them. You can choose to allow every circumstance to make you stronger, wiser, more knowledgeable, more skillful, and more loving.
You can control your ability to design your life and your philosophies. A philosophy of personal responsibility allows you to live from an inner core of integrity. It will bring a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.
