MKAPA WANTS AFRICAN YOUTH ACQUIRE INNOVATIVE EDUCATION

The former president of Tanzania Benjamin Mkapa has requested the youth in Africa to be innovative, saying that they should be focused on solutions to address Africa’s challenging problems which include unemployment.

Mkapa added on that Africans must stop looking at developed countries for the solutions to address African challenges.

He said that today as he was presiding over the 6th graduation of Cavendish University, Uganda Campus, where 1368 students from all over Africa graduated at a ceremony held at Speke Resort Munyonyo. He is the chancellor of the university.

He said, ”Although Africa is moving fast for industry growth universities should train students to be innovative, creative and business entrepreneurs to enable them to become employment makers rather than seekers.”

He said that universities should train African youth to come up with the next solution to African problems and careers.

”The youth should lead the Africa to greatness economically .If African youths are not empowered the developed countries will again colonize Africa economically.” Mkapa said. 

While delivering the education minister’s speech, Uganda’s minister for general duties, Mary Karoro Okurut said that the government of Uganda values education and this can be witnessed in the number of higher education institutions that are opening up which now support the Public universities in maturing the next generation of this country.

She further asks the graduates to exhibit higher levels of honesty in their next journey as this will get them to prosperity in life.

A total of 1,368 students from different countries in Africa have been passed out at the 6th graduation with 432 females and 936 males in various disciplines.
