Ghana’s US$95 Million Kumasi City Mall Ready For Use

Ghana is doing greatly in making the country a better place for its citizens. In the recent years, it has recorded significant number of progress which has contributed to the country’s development. The US$95 million Kumasi City Mall project has been under construction for some years which is designed to give a boost to the economy. The project is said to have been completed recently and set to begin operation in the next two weeks.

Kumasi is a city in Ashanti Region, and is among the largest metropolitan areas in Ghana. Kumasi is near Lake Bosomtwe, in a rain forest region, and is the commercial, industrial and cultural capital of Asanteman. The city is located outside Accra and doing pretty well in social economic activities.

Kumasi City Mall is sited on a 15-4 acre stretch of land. It has been recorded as the most modern shopping facility outside Accra, and would eventually provide employment to hundreds of people in the country. The project was constructed by Delico Property Investment Ghana Limited. Mr. Roux Gerber, the Project Development Manager, confirmed that the mall has 74 different large shops, offering goods and services in all retail categories. He also confirmed that the mall was constructed with quality materials that would make it last really long.

He further said that the retail services include foodstuff, grocery, lifestyle, beauty and wellness, electronics and telecommunications, designer fashion and clothing, pharmaceuticals and clinic facilities, gifts and high value jewelry, restaurants, banking and financial services, entertainment, children’s games and recreation. These are services that will encourage the citizens to grow. He indicated that it was going to be a Mall for everybody in the metropolis.

However, the tenant mix had been carefully selected to give every customer some choice and quality within a modern controlled shopping environment. It made provision for customer care service in order to create a friendly environment for its customers.

Mr. Gerber said the Mall would be managed by a four-member Board of Directors with the day-to-day operations, run by Broll Ghana Limited as the Property Managers and AttAfrica Asset Mangers as the Asset Managers. He further said the security service is also highly guaranteed. He further pointed out that the project had resulted in significant foreign direct investment into the country. Apart from its contributions to the national treasury, it had generated employment for a large number of Ghanaians during its construction and completion, he added.

He further mentioned that about 1,000 local people were hired during the construction phase of the project which created employment for some at that point and that more will be hired when the mall is fully set for business transactions.

In addition, Mr. Kofi Sekyere, Chairman of the Board, said it would offer a wonderful shopping experience to shoppers in the nation’s second largest city. Most people living in Kumasi would not have to travel down to Accra for shopping experience.

Kumasi is growing to a standard city and there is no doubt that it would make tremendous contribution to business growth in Kumasi and Ghana as a whole. The residents are really excited with this great development.
