Anti muslim fight around the world is presently on the increase. All anti-Muslim hate groups exhibit extreme hostility toward Muslims. Most portray those who worship Islam as fundamentally alien and attribute to its followers an inherent set of negative traits. This is a completely negative belief that needs to be corrected as Muslims are a set of peaceful and loving people.
Recently, two men were stabbed to death in the U.S. city of Portland when they tried to stop their attacker from harassing two women because they appeared to be Muslim, police said. These men are victims of circumstance who were only trying to the help the Muslim women.
It was reported that the incident unfolded on a commuter train hours before the start of Ramadan, Islam’s holy month. Most of the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims observe this religious fast which is meant to grow love in every society and also seek the mercies of God.
One of the police confirmed that the attack began shortly before 4:30 p.m.
” A man was seen yelling ethnic and religious slurs toward two women who appeared to be Muslim on a MAX train at the Hollywood Transit Station”, the Portland Police Department said in a statement.
Similarly, three men who intervened were reportedly stabbed. It was also confirmed that two among the three men were fatally stabbed. The attacker was arrested shortly after he got off the train, police said, adding that the women left the scene before police could interview them.
“In the midst of his ranting and raving, some people approached him and appeared to try to intervene with his behavior and some of the people that he was yelling at,” Portland police spokesman Pete Simpson said during a news conference aired by local news outlets. He added that “They were attacked viciously by the suspect.”
In response to the attack, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said that anti-Muslim incidents has increased by more than 50 percent in the United States from 2015 to 2016 due in part to the government’s focus on militant Islamist groups and anti-immigrant rhetoric. Many Muslims in the state are becoming scared to practise their religion. The council further explained that many Muslims have lost their lives as a result of the anti Muslim hatred.
“President Trump must speak out personally against the rising tide of Islamophobia and other forms of bigotry and racism in our nation that he has provoked through his numerous statements, policies and appointments that have negatively impacted minority communities,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
It was reported that following the attack, one of the men died at the scene while the other died at a hospital after the doctors had tried so hard to stop the bleeding. The third man was said to have survived after being treated for non-life threatening injuries. These were folks just riding the train and unfortunately got caught up in this act.
Some eye witnesses told police that the two young women were Muslims as one of them wore hijab while the other had her hair covered with a vail. However, Portland police did not identify the suspect or the victims.. The suspect was reported to have been arrested.
Muslims are responsible people. There has been a wide misconception of relating Muslims to militants or terrorists. This is equally affecting the religion and its people. Urgent correction has to be made for peace to reign.
