Peace December Nigeria sets to launch Peace Club in Bayelsa State
On Wednesday, 28th of June 2017, Peace December Nigeria (PDN) Bayelsa State chapter has visited Swali Secondary School (SSS) to negotiate, in collaboration with Spice Book Club, with the administration to establish Peace Club for middle and high school students.
The aim of this initiative, according to PDN Bayelsa State Director, Comrade Robert Ebi, is to spread the gospel of peace among teenager who are known to be very vulnerable and prone to violence.
“We’re glad that our collaborator, the school administration and the student welcomed the initiative. And we believe that using ‘catch them young approach’ would go a long way in alleviation or perhaps eradication violence and crime most especially among the youths of the state,” stated Ebi.
“Our plan is to be engaging students in creative writing tasks and competitions that promote peace, justice and unity among humans,” he added.
“We’re also planning to set up a study center in the school were some of our volunteers can teach young learners about peace related courses after which participant will be inducted as lifetime member of Peace December. This would help us to create more branches and reach every resident of the state,” Ebi concluded.
The National Secretary of Peace December Nigeria, Saliu Bashiru Kehinde commended the effort of the State Director and his team and encouraged them to keep up the humanitarian work as Peace December activities is in dire need in that volatile region of Niger Delta.
“Since Comrade Ebi Robert to over the leadership of PDN in Bayelsa State, the activities and peace advocacy of the organization has become unstoppable and impacting in the oil producing state of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” said Mutiu Olawuyi, the Founder and National President of Peace December Nigeria.
