Germany lifts FIFA Confederations trophy

On Sunday, 2nd of July, Germany defeated Chile, to lift FIFA Confederations Cup with Lars Stindl’s goal in the 20th minute at the Saint Petersburg Stadium in Saint Petersburg.

According to the Vanguard News sport column: “Diaz’s momentary lapse in concentration let Timo Werner rob him of possession, draw the goalkeeper and pass to Stindl, who scored into an empty net on 20 minutes in Saint Petersburg.”

The record goal made it the first time Germany “won the Confederations Cup in the eighth edition of the pre-World Cup tournament.”

Despite all efforts from Chile, the team could not convert any of her 20 shots to goal, even with the game possession well on their side.

Winning the trophy was well received by the German team as they took to the field celebrating nearly all night. The highlight was the trophy presentation, roll of photography and country victory jubilation.
