ECCHR accuses President Bashar al-Assad of violating human rights
According to CNN, on Thursday 20th July, 2017 ECCHR accused six high-ranking Syrian officials close to President Bashar al-Assad of war crimes against humanity.
German Federal Prosecutor would hear witness affidavit in a lodestar case filed by Berlin-based ECCHR, European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights.
In accordance to Reuters, the complaint was submitted by several Syrian ex-detainees, including two Syrian lawyers about torture in the cells.
Two Syrian lawyers were victims of torture in the regime’s cells.
Mazen Darwish, a 43 years old Syrian Human Rights lawyer and journalist and victim of Syrian jail told CNN, “Torture methods used when I was detained, electric shocks, hanging detainees from the ceiling, beating and sleep deprivation.
“Those were not human conditions. They used electric ticks, boiling water, all kinds of tools you can imagine.
“After two months, they transferred me to the air force division.
“There were two torture sessions daily.”
It is noted that like those legal actions had been taken, whereas in Europe that case is unique.
It was launched under the principal of Universal Jurisdiction which allowed prosecutes and courts to pursue international crimes even in the absence of links to Germany.
Khalid Rawas and with his wife Abeer Farhoud, were arrested against the participation in demonstrating in Damascus and detained, he told that he was subjected to severe torture-including sexual violence.
Anwar al-Bunni said, “It is a miracle that I am safe.”
Additionally, Munem Hillaneh and five other witnesses would be appearing to the court today.
In February, Assad denied claimed of torture Syrian prisoners.
He said in his interview, “The allegations had not a shred of evidence.”
