PM Nawas Sharif attends 52nd Independence Day Celebrations of Maldives.

On Tuesday 26th July 2017, Maldives celebrated its 52nd Independence Day with the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif gracing the celebrations as the chief guest of the event.

Maldives is a tropical nation in the Indian Ocean composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls, which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. It’s known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs.

President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom sent an invitation to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif accompanied by Foreign affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz.

During his visit to Maldives, PM was expected to sign several agreements for cooperation in various fields following a meeting with President of Maldives.

President Yameen ordered troops by saying that the move was part of security measures undertaken for a visiting dignitary.

He said in his statement, “The special measures taken by the security forces at the parliament building on 24th July 2017 were to ensure the security and safety of the premises, as mandated by the…constitution.”
