Jude Padayachy presents letter of accreditation at the Maison Queau de Quinssy

HIV AIDS has grown a worldwide concern over the years. Experts, organizations, and professionals have not had any moment to rest. The increasing spate and the threat from HIV AIDS has kept a number of eyes opened. Like in the other parts of the world, Seychelles is not left out.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Seychelles, it is reported that the Foreign Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Claude Morel and the Principal Secretary received the UNAIDS Country Director for Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles, Dr Jude Padayachy at Maison Queau de Quinssy today, where the latter presented his letter of accreditation.

As stated in the report, during the meeting, the Foreign Secretary remarked that it was with a sense of great pride that Seychelles receives Dr Padayachy who is a Seychellois national and would ultimately add his vast expertise to help in the fight against HIV AIDS in Seychelles as well as in the region.

Also, Dr Padayachy renewed his organisations commitment to help end the epidemic with the implementation of the 90-90-90 target. That is, by 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and that 90% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

For further engagement, both the Foreign Secretary and Dr Padachy discussed the need to fully realise the third target of the Sustainable Development Goals which seeks to eradicate the AIDS epidemic by 2030. It is announced that Dr Jude Padayachy will be stationed in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
