Train accident kills 23, injures 120 in India

Uttar Pradesh: In the Northern state, Indian train met a horrible incident which caused 23 deaths and 120 were injured, still Rescue workers were searching for injured and dead bodies.

According to Official state media it was the fourth major incident happened that year, the death toll might increase as eight carriages jumped out of railway track.

Police reported, ‘The tragic crash happened due to darkness, eight carriages roughly went out of the railway track 80 miles north to the capital city and met a tragedy when they were going to their Holy city Haridwar.’

Local volunteers and Rescue workers reached on the spot but due to darkness and night searching.

According to some of official sources, Uttar Pradesh worked into the night searching for survivors in the overturned and mangled carriages.

A senior police officer in the state, Anand Kumar said, ‘Forty people had been killed and more than 140 injured. The train was overcrowded.’

Ajay Pandey, a senior police officer said, ‘We are struggling to pull out injured, and are waiting for gas cutters to arrive. It’s too dark to launch a full fledged search operation, but our teams are trying their best.’

However, due to poor investment in the network every year India faced a large number of train crashes which became very common and frequent across the country, even though they were having the world largest rail network.
