The relatives of Robert Mugabe, the former President of Zimbabwe, have reached a conclusion that they say they had decided two years ago, of severing relations with Grace Mugabe, their daughter-in-law, who is also now a former Zimbabwe First Lady.
Mrs. Mugabe is accused by the Mr. Mugabe family members of being allegedly disrespectful to the elders of the clan and family members in general, showing off and sowing seeds of disharmony within the family.
The Mugabe clan is said to include the Mugabe, Jenami and Matibiri families.
Ben Matibiri, Mr. Mugabe’s uncle informed in an interview that Mrs. Mugabe usually uttered ‘things that are unbecoming of the first family, belittling everyone as she tried to use borrowed powers at every opportunity.’
It is reported that Grace Mugabe’s last visit to her husband’s relatives in rural Zvimba, was two years ago, due to the unfriendly and bad relationship she holds towards her in-laws.
Matibiri adds that Mrs. Mugabe is the complete opposite of the former president’s first wife, the late Sally Hefron Mugabe, who he said was a great ‘daughter to the family who took care of everyone’s problems and needs’.
‘Sally Mugabe was more like a daughter to me. She took care of the family like her very own, unlike the present wife of Mugabe who is extremely talkative and doesn’t know what to say at the appropriate time’.
Clemence, Matibiri’s nephew also supplemented on the claim and said that Mrs. Mugabe has always been disrespectful to the family elders and had a penchant for exhibiting her power to whoever went her way.
‘Grace was fond of controlling everyone wherever she is, and failed to take her role as a daughter-in-law in the family,’ said Clemence.
They added that Grace Mugabe’s behaviors have not only destroyed her, but also her husband and the entire Mugabe clan.
The Mugabe family members also disclosed their belief that it might have been Grace Mugabe responsible for Robert Mugabe’s downfall, because of the hatred she bears in her heart, and the unconstructive ideas that she must have fed their son.
‘Her unbecoming utterances in public when she attacked former Vice President Joice Mujuru and then the current President Emmerson Mnangagwa, led to the downfall of Mugabe,’ claimed the Mugabe family.
