U.S. Basketball legend, daughter killed in Helicopter Crash

Kobe Bryant, an NBA superstar, has died in a helicopter crash.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday 26th January 2020, also claimed his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

Bryant was believed to be on the helicopter with four other passengers when the helicopter went down in flames above the city of Calabasas California.

Confirming the helicopter crash, Tony Imbrendo, Fire Captain Public information Officer L.A County Fire Department, said the helicopter went down onto the hill side and that “There were no survivors.”

“The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained. But appropriate investigation is being carried out,” he added.

Speaking about Bryant’s death, Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Mayor said, “This is a moment that leaves us struggling to find words that express the magnitude of shock and sorrow we are all feeling right now..”

“Kobe Bryant was a giant who inspired, amazed, and thrilled people everywhere with his incomparable skill on the court — and awed us with his intellect and humility as a father, husband, creative genius, and ambassador for the game he loved.” Garcetti added.

Bryant, 41 was an all-time NBA legend with great achievement in his 20-year career with Los Angeles Lakes. In 2008 he was named most valuable player. He was the fourth- leading scorer in the NBA history with 33,643. He was the five-time NBA champions with Los Angeles Lakes, two-time NBA scoring champion and two-time Olympic champions. He was twice an NBA Finals MVP and an 11-time All-NBA First Team selection.

Also in 2018, Bryant, in a five-minute film on a letter he once wrote about sport, he won an Oscar for the best short animated film for Dear Basketball.

Bryant is survived by his wife Vanessa three other daughters atalia, Bianca and Capri.
