Donald J. Trump’s successful campaign for the post of the President of the United States was one of the historic moments in the year 2016.
His victory to the exalted position heralded a monumental shift in the political history of the United States, with disappointments, especially from those who aspired a better America.
Most Americans and friends of America were so disappointed that a business man with no political experience in holding elected office could emerge as the president of a self-acclaimed world’s most powerful country.
During his electioneering in 2016, Trump, while announcing his candidacy for President of the United States, boasted he would be the greatest president US had ever created.
Trump, who many Americans considered unfit to secure the Republican nomination, promised to “make America great again”. This means that he arrogantly believed that without him America would continue to lose its glory. Perhaps this is why he has been busy, since he became the tenant of White House, eliminating Obama’s glorious legacies, which primarily focused on the masses and largely on global peace cum unity.
To substantiate the claim that he is unworthy of the position he holds, he began his obnoxious, inexperienced and thick-skinned leadership style by signing imposition of travel bans on nationals of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Yemen, Iran, and Sudan. This ban, which the whole world described as “Muslim Ban”, triggered strong condemnation, criticisms, disgust from around the world.
His administration is marred by the controversy of his apparent backroom communications with Russian officials, General Michael Flynn – Trump’s national security adviser – becoming the first political casualty of the Trump administration.
He has since then fired some blunt cabinet members and replaced them with his butt and boot lickers. Obviously, this is why a March 2017 survey showed that over one third of the public strongly disapproved of a number of his appointees, including Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
In characteristic fashion, the Trump administration challenged the norms of D.C. further by employing Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump in an official White House role. When he made the announcement, 41 percent of Americans strongly opposed them to be an official employee of the White House. This frustration was further escalated when Trump made Jared Kushner, his son-in-law and Ivanka’s husband, senior advisors to the President.
Another leadership fault that characterizes Trump’s administration is his biased reliance more on some top military ‘biz’ personnel and NRA than previous administrations. For instance, on July 22, while he was commissioning the Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, Trump stated that, “American steel and American hands have constructed a 100,000-ton message to the world: American might is second to none. We will win, win, win. We will never lose.”
While disclosing his administration’s emphasis on the military as the primary instrument of U.S. foreign policy, Trump was really empowering his military commanders while sidelining the State Security Department, who were actively involved in explosive his deal with Russians during the election that brought him to the White House.
To further weaken the State Department, Trump ensures that White House advisors are considered more in decision making process than the State Department. In fact in many cases, Trump has given important foreign policy assignments to advisors within the White House, particularly former Chief Political Strategist Steve Bannon and Senior Advisor Jared Kushner.
Considering his foreign policies, Trump has destabilized a lot of countries within his three and a half years tenure. He has unapologetically and boastfully authorized and threatened using force on numerous occasions against a number of countries since he assumed the position of the US President. For instance, in Yemen, he authorized a botched special operations raid in late January, which left a Navy SEAL and several civilians dead. And he added to the wound by giving the US military assistance to the Saudi-led coalition in partnership with Al-Qaeda terrorist group to fight Houthis in Yemen. Several innocent civilian lives including school children’s were lost.
Likewise in Syria, Trump ordered a cruise missile strike against an Assad-regime airfield in retaliation for the alleged regime’s April 4 sarin nerve agent attack on civilians. The week before the sarin attack and American retaliation, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley both stated that the United States no longer sought Assad’s removal from power, sending a mixed signal at best.
Again in Somalia, Trump eased Obama-era restrictions on the use of force in Somalia, giving military commanders more freedom of action against the Al Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab terrorist group. This has triggered more violence in the region, with more lives lost in Kenya and Somalia, including Hodan Nalaye – the Canadian-Somali peace advocate and activist, as the terrorists heavily retaliated on unprotected innocent civilians.
To boost further the purse of the NRA, Trump asked for the deployment of more American soldiers to Somalia claiming to be on a mission to train and equip the Somali National Army.
This same undiplomatic Twitter President of the United States traded war of words with the North Korean leader Kim. While questioning Pyongyang’s continued development of ballistic missiles and nuclear weapon in North Korea, the Trump administration threatened to use force against North Korea, either to preempt or retaliate for a missile or nuclear weapons test. This undiplomatic step brought more tension to the region.
As if those were not enough, Trump reached the climax of his implicit plan of destabilization of the Middle East by killing the most revered Iranian military leader, who championed the drastic reduction of the operation of Al-Qaueda in the region.
According to Trump, Pentagon reacted to speculations that Soleimani and his forces were planning an imminent attack that threatened American lives, President Donald Trump, so he ordered a drone strike that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
So what happened next? The Iranian government launched airstrikes on the US airbase in Iraq, which destroyed everything the US has in there and also wounded more than 50% of the US military personnel. This made the United States a big loser! This is nothing but a proof that the United States is experiencing the worst governance in its history.
It’s important to note here that Trump is a money worshiper. He can do anything to make more money for himself and his allies, even if it requires eliminating souls.
Do you remember when lawmakers leveled allegation against Trump that he was undermining his own intelligence agencies and failing to confront Saudi Arabia over a human rights atrocities?
Donald Trump insisted that he would remain a “steadfast partner” of Saudi Arabia because the country pumps more money to the purse of his administration and bought billion dollars worth of military weapons for his local allies – ignoring blatantly the clear evidence that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had hand in the murder dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The most terrible fault of Trump’s administration is democracy for the rich. As a businessman, he used his executive powers to favor his business partners. President Trump and congressional Republicans enacted their tax cut for the wealthy and large corporations (owned mostly by his allies). This enactment was intended to make the poor poorer, and to keep enslaving the masses and to find excuse for making life more difficult for both legal and illegal immigrants.
A clear evidence for this could be seen in the GOP tax cut which delivered huge benefits to rich investors and CEOs through a record-setting $1 trillion in stock buybacks in 2018 – while average workers struggled to pay for rising health care and living costs.
As a racist leader, little did Donald Trump know that his latest travel ban is an attack on Africans. He used his executive powers to issue a ban on visas for six countries, most of which are located in Africa: Nigeria, Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania and Sudan. This is a show of strong determination to block foreign black race from entering the United States.
It is no doubt that Trump’s ban, if implemented, will pose serious danger to the economies of the affected nations.
Therefore, it’s time for all Americans, either Natives, Purto Ricans, Afro-Americans, Asian-Americans, European-Americans, descendants of the British Puritans, or others to leverage their electoral right to usher in an administration that will help uphold the uniqueness that stands America out among countries.
Efforts must be made to curb the excesses of this tyrant. Undemocratic leadership style is alien to American politics. It is time to end the era of a political tyro.
