Islamic Council orders closure of mosques in Gambia
As part of the preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus in the country, mosques in Gambia have been directed to shut down.
This directive was contained in a statement released by the Islamic Council.
This directive was issued as a result of the third case of coronavirus recorded in the country after a 70-year-old Nyumuyel resident arrived into the country from France.
“The patient, who initially refused to be tested, was later confirmed positive,” the statement reads.
Consequent upon this, Supreme Islamic Council ordered all mosques closed in latest efforts at containing the spread of the virus.
