World Health Organization’s Chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has angrily blasted the French doctors who suggested that Africa could be perfectly good as a testing ground for coronavirus vaccine.

In a virtual news conference held yesterday, the Director-General of WHO said, “Africa cannot and will not be a testing ground for any vaccine.”

“The doctors’ suggestions was a hangover from the colonial mentality,” he added.

He further stated that “It is disgraceful and appalling, during this 21st century, to hear from doctors, those kinds of remarks. We condemn this in the strongest terms possible, and we assure you that this will not happen again.”

His remarks came after two French doctors were accused of racism for suggesting that Africa should be the testing ground because the people there are highly exposed.

The comment caused an outrage with many people referring to the comments as racist.
