Turkey has today summoned the international community to condemn Israel’s plan to annex the West Bank.

Ibrahim Kalin, the presidential spokesman, said the occupation and annexation are crimes and calls on the world to take a stand.

He wrote on his Twitter account, “We reject Israel’s plan to annex the West Bank and call for the world to take a stand against it. Occupation and annexation is a crime.”

He added that “Turkey rejects and calls on the world to reject any annexation plan by Israel. Occupation is a crime. Annexation of more Palestinian lands is a crime. Turkey will support all steps and measures to stop the further theft of Palestinian lands.”

Kalin said Turkey is ready to cooperate with authorities who are willing to take action against the occupation and annexation of Palestinian land.

The annexation of 30 per cent of Area C of the West Bank may begin as early as 1st of July, under the terms of coalition agreement signed by Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Beny Gantz, the Blue and white party head.

The annexation was a part of Donald Trump’s “deal of the century” plan, which was announced in January.

The plan has hence drawn widespread criticism from the Arab world and was rejected by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

OIC has urged all member states not to engage with it or to cooperate with the US administration in implementing it in any form.
