Derby defender Andre Wisdom attacked, hospitalized
Andre Wisdom, a 27- year-old Derby defender has been hospitalised, followed an attack on Saturday.
Wisdom, who was a victim of an unprovoked assault in an attack in Liverpool while he visited a relative, was stabbed several times.
He was also robbed on the street of Toxteth after he got out of his car.
The incident happened hours after he played in a match between Derby and Reading that ended in a 2 – 1 win.
While confirming the attack in statement on Monday June 29, 2020, Derby stated that “Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery. He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital.
“The club will focus its efforts on supporting Andre and his family.”
The statement also confirmed that the Merseyside police are investigating the attack.
“Merseyside police are investigating and the Club will focus its efforts on supporting Andre and his family.
“Therefore we will not be making any further comment at this time,” reads the statement.
Andre Wisdom would not be able to feature in the Wednesday Championship match between Derby and Preston North End at Deepdale.
Wisdom who signed with Derby in 2017 has made 20 appearances for the club after a series of loan spells from the Liverpool for which he made 22 senior appearances.
