Hassan Rouhani, Iranian President, has accused the U.S. of savagery following fresh sanctions imposed on Tehran on Monday which he said has caused the country millions of dollars damages.

Speaking in a televised address on Saturday, September, 26, 2020, Rouhani said the Americans had inflicted tens of millions of dollars of damage on Iran.

“We haven’t such an extent of savagery. The address for Iranian people’s curses and hatred is the White House,” he said.

On Monday, the U.S. imposed fresh sanctions on Tehran specifically its defense ministry and others for involvement in nuclear and weapons program.

Meanwhile on Thursday, several Iranian officials were blacklisted by the U.S. on allegation of gross human rights violations.

Among officials affected is an Iranian judge believed to have a hand in sentencing an Iranian wrestler to death.

Iran and the U.S. have seen tensions between them rise since the U.S.’s unilateral withdrawal from Iranian nuclear deal in 2018 which was agreed to by President Trump’s predecessor.

Consequently, President Trump has continued to impose sanctions that have already been eased under the previous agreement.
