Muslim leaders in Kenya condemn attack on Churches

Muslim leaders in Kenya have condemned the suspected terror grenade attack on a Nairobi church yesterday that left one child dead and eight more injured.

They have called for unity among all Kenyans irrespective of religion. They appeal to whoever knows those responsible for the attack to report to police.

After the attack, Some Christians attacked property y belonging to Muslims and destroyed them. They also hurled stones at houses belonging to some Muslims breaking window glasses.

While addressing journalists at Arabian Cuisine Hotel in Nairobi, the Muslim leaders  cautioned against turning  terror attacks into religious war. They said those carrying out the attacks should be reminded that it is not good to kill innocent people under the guise of religion.

The Muslim leaders who condemned the act which is suspected to have  been carried out  by Islamists include  Cabinet Minister Mohamed Elmi, Members of parliament  Aden Duale, Mohamed Hussein, Sophia Abdi, Adan Keynan, Amina Abdalla and Wajir Governor aspirant Dr Ali  Mohamud and Adan Omar.

They requested  Christian and Muslim leaders to work together to protect  mosques and churches from criminal attacks. They condemned the Sunday  grenade attack and the stoning of properties  belonging to Muslims were work of criminals and that they should not  be interpreted as religious war.

Aden Duale said,’ Religious wars are useless . They are destructive. We have seen what religious wars have done in some countries and that  should not be replicated in Kenya. We should not allow a few people  who want to divide the country on religious lines to succeed.’

They called upon Christian leaders to join them so that they work collectively to ensure that peace prevailed in the country.

They also asked police and other security agencies to be vigilant and arrest all the terrorists in the country.
