Security agencies in Nigeria have started monitoring people suspected to be sponsoring the Islamist group, Boko Haram, which has been killing innocent people in the country.

In the past two years Boko Haram has reportedly killed over 150 people in their attacks on soft targets like churches, schools and markets. Police believes that the group is also responsible for setting fire on houses after closing occupants inside.

According to the Inspector -General of police, Mohammed Abubaker, among
those suspected to be supporting the killers are senators who have allegedly been fraternising with the Islamic sect.

Abubaker said, ‘We have received information that there are some people supporting Boko Haram sect. Some of those mentioned hold high offices. We are doing much in looking for evidence, and whoever will be proved doing so, will be arrested and prosecuted.’

Boko Haram’s attacking and killing innocent people has been condemned
by local and international human rights organizations.
